Interesting! Couldn’t agree more. The comparisons are bang on, and thats the irony! Probably, the situation is worst in the modern era… I must say, yet again, enjoyed reading your thoughts; Very nicely put. 🙂 Thank you.

Very well said Piyali!! Excellent comparison with todays world. In fact I would go a step further to state that we are passive and mute spectators because that is what our mythology tells us to be and justifies that inaction. We have been conditioned (tutored) to accept injustice…..time and time again. We have been conditioned to subjugate women…..we women have been conditioned to accept that position. Breaking that conditioning has and is never an easy task. Keep writing, you’ve got great perspective!!!!

Thank you so much, and I agree it will take a long time till we reach a point where we can change the way women are being perceived in this society. May be two more millenniums later (Oh God ! just think about it, how scary that thought is)

Become your own Krishna…Good thought. Must teach our daughters to be just that, their own Krishnas

Yes .. she is bold n beautiful. Her life was not in her grip ., the aggression n fire in her images depicts that .. I mean Rupa Ganguli , the actress brilliantly played Drapadis character ..the image of Drapadi , very relates her .
Piyali , I am amazed to read varied coverage of topics .. .. keep writing dear .. it brings out to know us ” the woman ” more …
Love your writing…

You nailed it… nothing has changed in all these years . From the disdain for the dark skinned, to the rules of patriarchy. Not to forget , her relationship with her not so approving, mother-in-law, Kunti. We are all fighting our battles everyday to keep our sanity and yet it’s ironical that we are believed to be the ones who bring the doom! Btw, wasn’t Draupadi also known as Krishnaa – with a double “a”?

Thanks 🙂 and yes according to some mythologists, she was also called Krishnaa’, not sure why, but my guess is maybe because of her dusky complexion or it could be due to the strong bond she shared with her childhood friend Krishna
